Faith Page Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine
September 20, 2016

It seems like at the end of every summer someone is always saying: “Where did summer go?” We all take advantage of the longer days, maybe time away from work or school and the fun things to do. We make the actual choice to spend our time however we want. Nature does not. Nature just does what it does every year, cycle to the next phase. In a few weeks the leaves will begin turning colors and we will enjoy that too, but that will happen again next year. Nature just keeps on doing what it was designed to do. As people, we make our choices. We decide what to eat, where to go, what to wear… The question is: are our choices as beautiful as nature’s? How long does it take for us to decide what type of coffee we would like to buy or which job offer to accept? Of course our decisions are not automatic like the rhythmic cycle of nature. But upon what do we base our choices? Do we ever consider what God would want us to do or is the prestige and bigger salary the deciding factor? God only wants what is good for us so somehow we have to plug into what God would like us to do. We do that by a conversation. That is called prayer. Take some time out to talk to God and sincerely listen to His Word. Make sure you are not talking to yourself because then you just get caught up spinning your wheels.

Bible Vs.: Psalm 16: 1-3 Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord, I have no good apart from you.” As for the saints in the land, they are the noble, in whom is my delight.

Prayer: O Lord let me allow you into my life without conditions. Let me hear your voice and follow your commands. Let me praise you and adore you and let me be your sign on this earth. Amen

Spotlight: Come and visit Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine at 21281 Chardon Rd. Sunday, October 2nd there will be a Fall Festival. Come and pray, eat and have fun! There will be 3:00 PM Stations of the Cross, 4:00 PM Rosary followed by Benediction.

Joy where you are

by Ralph Marston

What you enjoy doing, you do well. When you enjoy the moment you’re in, you rise to a higher state of awareness, of effectiveness, of existence.

Let your enjoyment be based on choice, not on judgment. Instead of deciding in advance what’s enjoyable and what’s not, simply decide to enjoy whatever is.

No, not everything is enjoyable. Yet a whole lot more people, situations, and activities can be enjoyable if you’ll just let them be.

Let go of the stressful, anxious need to run somewhere else. Peacefully direct your energy into creating real joy, real enjoyment, right where you are.

Allow a little enjoyment, and create more patience, understanding, confidence and focus. Rather than fighting against a difficult situation, choose to enjoy a unique and valuable moment.

Find joy, encourage joy, make joy right where you are. The more you enjoy life, the more there is to enjoy.

Better than you’ve been

by Ralph Marston

Decide today to be better than you’ve been. Commit to raise your life to a higher level.

Start with your thoughts, letting go of the ones that hold you down. Replace them with thoughts of excellence, of possibility, with visions of achievement.

Next, raise your expectations. You deserve to do more, to be more, to understand more, so expect it without question.

Then, push yourself into constant, effective action. Invest great effort, driven by your higher thoughts and expectations.

You can be better than you’ve been, reach higher than you’ve reached, and do much more than you’ve done. You get to be the person who makes all that happen.

Inject the power of passion and purpose into every experience. Choose to get better, act to get better, every moment, every day.

Live gracefully

by Ralph Marston
Live life gracefully rather than fighting against it. Take the path of peace, of strength, of confidence.

To live with wisdom, understand you don’t have all the answers, and no person does. To live with strength, accept and value life as it is, as it comes.

To embed confidence in every activity, know that you already are enough, already have enough to begin making progress. To sustain success, see that the more you lift others up, the more your own life is lifted.

To fill your world with joy, rise above shallow, superficial concerns of ego. Give your attention, your energy to what matters, to all you love.

This day, choose to be rich in the substance of real life. Be authentic in your richness.

Live with grace, with integrity. And live in a way that satisfies the deepest part of you.

September Faith Page Post

As we have already learned this year has been declared the Year of Mercy. It even has a logo, which we have on this page. If one looks at the logo quickly one might think that it is Jesus, the Good Shepherd, but it really isn’t that. It is Jesus carrying the man who was beaten in the parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus becomes the Good Samaritan. Looking at the logo we see that the middle eye of each figure overlaps the other. The significance is that Jesus sees out of our eyes. He is carrying us. He sees and feels what we do. On the other hand, we see out of Jesus’ eye and he shows us how to see with mercy. Look at the change in the color of the almond shaped circles. Jesus carries the person out of the darkness into the light. Jesus stands on the cross. He carries us from his cross. What a profound message this logo gives us. Do we allow Jesus to carry us and do we in turn carry others?

Bible Vs. Lk. 10:25-27 “Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among robbers?” He said, “The one who showed mercy on him.” And Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

Prayer: Oh most merciful Father, help us to be faithful. Help us to carry the unwanted and the most forgotten to you. Help us to recognize when we need to allow your Son, Jesus to carry us. Help us to be merciful like you.

Spotlight: The only way that we can know what God is saying is by listening. Listening is called prayer. Come to Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine at 21281 Chardon Rd., Euclid, Ohio, 44117. You can help us out by attending our clambake on September 17th. Reservations are due by September 12th. Please pick up a form or we can email you one. Fill it out and send it in to reserve your spot. Call 216-481-8232 for the form. Thank you and God bless.

Think you can

by Ralph Marston
You have enough challenges and obstacles working against you. Don’t let your own thoughts work against you too.

Thinking you can do the work doesn’t mean the work will get done. Yet it’s certainly preferable to thinking you can’t.

Do you ever feel that certain conditions prevent you from getting anything done? Imagine what could happen if you took a more positive, enabling view.

If you insist on perfect conditions, you’ll never get much done. So instead of insisting, start adapting.

Decide you can get it done, then get to work. Instead of focusing on what’s wrong, give your attention to making progress.

Whatever else is going on, you can put yourself in a positive frame of mind. Think you can, then proceed to do what you think.

In charge

by Ralph Marston
Your situation will never make you happy unless you choose to be happy. All the money in the world cannot change the way you feel until you change the way you feel.

No, your feelings do not alter the circumstances. Yet they radically change what you do with the circumstances.

If you feel optimistic, you will see the opportunities and seize them. If you feel despair, you will find plenty of reasons to confirm your feelings.

So which will it be? How will you choose to see the world, your life, your situation today?

For every person, crafting a life of quality and fulfillment is difficult work. Your attitude determines whether that work results in reward or punishment.

You’re in charge of the one factor that decides how to handle all the other factors. Choose the most beneficial outcome by choosing the most positive perspective.
