Happy Birthday Norah Jones

Birthday wishes to nine-time Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Norah Jones who celebrates today (March 30).  Jones was born Geethali Norah Jones Shankar in Brooklyn, NY and is the daughter of Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar and American concert producer Sue Jones.  She formally changed her name to 'Norah Jones' when she was sixteen.  Norah grew up in Texas listening to her mothers Bill Evans and Billie Holiday records and studied at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas.  She was signed to Blue Note Records and released her blockbuster debut album, Come Away With Me, in 2002.  The following year, Jones won Best New Artist and Album of the Year, plus three other Grammy's, for that that effort.  Norah is releasing her fifth studio album, Little Broken Hearts, on May 1 and will be on tour this summer in support of the album.  Tickets go on sale for several of the dates this weekend.  See the full line-up of concerts here: www.norahjones.com/tour/index.php.
