Beyonce Joins Alicia Keys' 9th Annual Black Ball

Beyoncé is joining up with her friend Alicia Keys to perform at the 9th Annual Keep A Child Alive Black Ball fundraiser on November 1.  Legendary singer-songwriter Carole King is also confirmed to take the stage.  The event will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, and will honor Oprah Winfrey and Angélique Kidjo.  Whoopie Goldberg will handle the emcee duties.  Alicia says, "Carole King is an inspirational musician who blazed the trail for women in the music industry and I'm honored to have her perform at the Black Ball.  With the amazing Beyoncé, Angélique Kidjo, the female-led group Alabama Shakes, and Whoopi Goldberg as our emcee, women will be rocking the house this year."  The Black Ball is a special benefit event that supports the Keep A Child Alive Foundation, started by Alicia in 2003.  The proceeds will help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. Past performers have included Jay-Z, Adele, Bono and Sade.
