Award-winning actor, singer-songwriter Harry Connick, Jr. has announced he will star in a comedy pilot picked up by FOX. The show, as yet untitled, is a family comedy with a musical spin and stars Connick as a successful entertainer and single dad who takes time off to reconnect with his teenage daugther. The pilot is being written by former Late Show veterans Eric and Justin Stangel and will be produced by David Letterman's Worldwide Pants and ABC Studios. Connick, Jr., the Stangels and Worldwide Pants' Letterman, Rob Burnett and Ann Marie Wilkins are executive producers. Last month, Harry joined American Idol as the third judge for season 13 of the hit music competition show. He previously appeared on the TV sitcom Will & Grace and his most recent big screen appearance was in the 2011 film Dolphin Tale. Connick is set to kick off a fall tour in support of his latest album Every Man Should Know on October 19 in Cincinnati, OH.
The untitled project will follow Connick, Jr., an entertainer and single dad who steps away from his career to spend time with his teenage daughter.
Worldwide Pants will produce with ABC Studios, alongside executive producers David Letterman, Rob Burnett, Ann Marie Wilkins and Connick, Jr.
Connick, Jr. last appeared in as a series regular on NBC's WILL & GRACE. The actor's upcoming big screen projects include Angels Sing and Dolphin Tale 2, and his past credits include Dolphin Tale, New in Town, P.S. I Love You, Bug, The Iron Giant, Independence Day and more. He has also appeared on television in Law & Order: SVU.
